I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself to those of you who don’t know me out in the real world.

I was born in Wausau Wisconsin and when I was in kindergarten we moved north to Washburn, which is located between Ashland and Bayfield, alongside Lake Superior. I will always consider that area my home. That is where my heart belongs. I miss everything about that area, even the winters.

I am old enough to have grey hair, and I have the wisdom to know not to drink coffee after 3pm. I am young enough to have a lengthy wish list of Lego sets.

I started writing at an early age. I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up, but I also wanted to be a writer. I’ve been able to live out both those dreams now.

The Wizard of Oz was my favorite movie growing up. If I watch it on DVD now, I remember where all the commercials played, as well as what commercials played. However, I cannot remember a shopping list that has more than two items.

I started to write poetry in high school. I’m extremely glad I saved all those little pieces of my soul on paper. I started to write a lot more in college as a suggestion from my therapist, and I never stopped. I have had some amazing teachers who also encouraged my writing.

In my spare time I try to take art classes. Over the last two years I’ve learned different painting techniques, tried my hand at pastels and pottery, and really had fun needle felting. I’m also a huge fan of loom knitting, making cards, and papier mâché. I have found that if I do something creative outside of writing, it cures my writer’s block.

I’m addicted to coffee, books, new journals, and pens. Shocker.

I enjoy cooking, especially Indian food, but I really love baking. I must be adequate because people keep eating what I make.

I played clarinet for six years. I apologize to all my neighbors, especially that first year.

I absolutely LOVE history and archeology. The Anglo-Saxon period is my absolute favorite. Museums make me happy.

I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2019. That was when I decided that I wanted to publish a book.

If someone asked me what the most interesting thing about me was, I might say that I worked at a circus tent for two summers while I was in college.

Before I get carried away and give you my mother’s birth name and my social security number, I’ll sign off for now. (Oscar Meyer, and 123-45-6789) Whoops! Author Stacy Hinojos Bookshop
