Book Synopsis: Lucille (19) is a snarky miracle child, born from an angel and the king of hell. Voices from a dream wake her up from the brink of death, and she finds she’s locked in a cement closet with memory loss. She remembers little of her past except for a couple of flashbacks of her adoring mom being surrounded by the enemy. Stolen and locked away, all Lucille wants is to escape and find her mom. With the help of voices in her head and the guidance of a goofy Nephilim (half-angle, half-human) Oliver (100), they travel from a modern-day Earth to the old world of Elora.

Oliver betrays Lucille and is given over to Aspen (99). A handsome lethal prince of the Tenebrous Kingdom who was stolen as a child. His angel mother and first love were murdered before his eyes by the power-hungry demon queen he is loyal to. His memories of his loved ones and loyalty are controlled by a hell rune on his chin. A rune only Lucille can see and affect. Yet the goal of taking her to the Mother of Demons never changes.

Lucille travels as a prisoner through the dangerous territory of The Divide, with the hope of finding her mom crushed. She doesn’t understand her powers, and even if she did, her glory (angelic firepower), and her Infernus (hell powers), are locked away behind powerful cuffs.

Dangerous creatures and an arrogant confusing prince further cut into her will, proving to her how naive she is. But she knows more than she thinks when she falls asleep. Not only can she find information as she dream-walks to other people’s dreams, but her memories spark in the darkness of her mind. But when she wakes it’s all forgotten.

In one of her dreams, the king of hell invades, a stranger she is apprehensive about, especially when he explains he can help her escape. But he does help her escape, by demanding she jump into a river that kills 99 percent of its victims. All except the Seraphims (the highest level of angels) and the offspring of hell. As a voice in her head, he also explains he has answers about her and her mother, but uses the rest of his powers to help Lucille before he can say anything.

Once she escapes, she runs into back-stabbing Oliver and the truth of his deal and betrayal come out. They both realize the true mastermind behind it all is a king, but neither one knows it’s the king of hell nor do they know Lucille just proved she is his daughter.

Instead of listening to the king of hell who told them to go North, they travel to a witch named Magda to get answers about Lucille’s mother and Oliver’s sister. Before they arrive Aspen intercepts them but is tricked into his own set of cuffs and dagged with to the witch who has all their answers for a steep price.

Magda reveals Aspen has been lying about Lucille’s mother, and she’s in their dungeons. Oliver finds out Lucille has the key to getting to his sister, and Lucille hid that from him. Lucille is taken again by the same demon who stole her in the beginning, Marcus. Who works for the archangel Michael, Lucille’s step-dad, who wants to kill her because of her impure blood.

Lucille is knocked out by Marcus, and in her unconscious state is visited by a cloaked figure who forces her to face what she’s been hiding from. She restores her memories she’s forced away and reveals what she knows to Michael as he tortures answers out of her. Before Michael can kill Lucille, Aspen and Oliver rescue her, only to be taken by the king of hell’s general.

Bio: Hi there! I’m Makayla, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to my world of storytelling. I grew up in a charming town near Madison, Wisconsin, devouring fantasy romance novels like Twilight, City of Bones, and Vampire Academy. My love for these magical realms sparked a passion for writing that has only grown stronger over the years.

I hold a degree in art and elementary education, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but storytelling has always been my true calling. When I’m not immersed in writing, you’ll likely find me curled up with a good book, spending time with family and friends, attempting to cultivate a garden (with varying degrees of success), or exploring new restaurants with my fiancé.

My journey into writing began in high school with a creative writing class that was more fun than I’d anticipated. It wasn’t until college that I tackled my first story. Although I didn’t finish it at the time, the experience ignited a desire to write and refine my craft. After much learning and connecting with inspiring authors, I’m excited to share my debut novel, Wings of Lies, with you.

Thank you for joining me on this adventure—I hope you enjoy the worlds and characters I’ve created as much as I enjoyed bringing them to life!
