Bio: In a career that’s included work as a journalist, a psychologist, and the founder of a national art consulting company, Maggie Smith added novelist to her resume with the publication of her debut, Truth and Other Lies. A women’s fiction novel set in Chicago, it won NIEA’s Juror Grand Prize, the Star Award for Debut Fiction from Women’s Fiction Writers Association, a Foreword INDIES General Fiction Book of the Year, and was selected for the Women’s Book Association Great Group Reads. Blindspot, a psychological suspense, was the First Place Winner in the Mystery/Suspense category by Pencraft Book Awards and is a finalist for CWA’s Book of the Year award for Indie Fiction.
In addition to her writing, Maggie hosts the weekly podcast Hear Us Roar (255+ episodes), blogs monthly for Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers and is Managing Editor for Chicago Writer’s Association Write City E-Zine. She resides in Milwaukee WI with her husband.
Question: What are you writing next?
Maggie: Next up I’m writing an upmarket book club fiction about a family dealing with the kidnapping of their daughter while on her honeymoon and a ransom demand that throws a divorcing couple into turmoil. It’s tentatively called Once Upon a Family and takes place in the vineyard area north of San Diego.
